Meet Ulf - our member of the month in April!

Introduction round: Who are you and where are you from?
"Moin" everybody! My name is Ulf Bruder. I was born in Halle/Saale but moved to Dresden in order to study, to 1990th hotspot Berlin to Hamburg and now back to Berlin.

What made you come to Berlin?
For my wife and me, Berlin is our chosen place to retire, so we moved here before going on pension to build up a social environment.

What exactly do you do? What's in the pipeline for the near future?
I'm an architect, developing and leading projects for a engineering timber construction company in Landscheide (Schleswig-Holstein). My job is more troubleshooting than planning these days. Here is for an example of what I am working on. I intend to work for about ten more years creating buildings for people to live and work in, mainly in wooden optic and construction.

Since when do you cowork at Office Club Berlin Prenzlauer Berg?
I started in March of 2019 and because the company is located near the river Elbe and the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal I have a satelite situation here.

What is the benefit of using a coworking space for you?
Working from home is something for jobs that require little space. I need projection surfaces and an office background, also some phone calls are not pleasant...
In those situations a certain distance to private life is necessary.

Which questions / problems could you help your coworking neighbour with?
Unfortunately the construction industry is one of the last in terms of digitalization. And I have no real reference to the new economy. But if you have a question about building - please get in touch.

Do you have favourite spots in Berlin? Something to recommend / consider especially for people coming here?
In Berlin everybody has a neighborhood, called Kiez, where the whole life has a platform. Sometimes all you need to do is to linger around and then you see the specials.
I like to walk along the squares: Arnimplatz - Mauerpark - Arkonaplatz - Teutoburger Platz - Kollwitzplatz - Helmholtzplatz - Humannplatz. This way you can experience some differences within Prenzlauer Berg.

Thanks a lot and all the best to you!
