Meet Tilman & Tim of FieldAware - our members of the month in January!

Introduction round: Who are you and where are you from?
We’re Tilman & Tim! Two dads & engineers who moved from the beautiful Ireland to sexy Berlin!

What made you come to Berlin?
Sick of the Irish weather!! Though recently there’s been a lot of Irish weather here too....
Tilman & and his family were looking for a change of scenery and Berlin is attractive and affordable. Tim’s wife is from Berlin originally, and their kids had more family in Berlin than at any other spot. Aunts, uncles & grandparents become more important when you have children...

What exactly do you do? What's in the pipeline for the near future?
We’re keeping the lights on for FieldAware. We look after the running of our systems in the cloud. The company is a classic SASS company so we’re busy looking after our server infrastructure. The job stays interesting and since six years no week went by that wasn’t different or challenging. Up to now the company has been active mostly in the US and Australia and now we’re expanding into Europe.

Since when do you cowork at Office Club Berlin Prenzlauer Berg?
3 months!!

What is the benefit of using a coworking space for you?
Lots! Getting away from screaming, running, fun loving kids that come for free with the home office. What we love is the focused atmosphere. Everyone is buzzing with creativity & concentration. It feels alive. A healthy dose of background noise, that, unlike in a normal open plan office, isn’t distracting. We found that we actually work better in the OC than in the company office or at home.
... and the OC comes with equipped with many friendly faces. You guys rock! 

Which questions / problems could you help your coworking neighbour with?
Anything regarding cloud infrastructure in AWS (Amazon’s Cloud offering). Life advice on parenting ;-)

Do you have favourite spots in Berlin? Something to recommend / consider especially for people coming here?
Depends on for whom... there’s many nice spots. For families, places a little on the outskirts like Lübars are wonderful. From visiting the animals on the farm there, to rolling down big grassy hills, flying kites and going to the playground there.

For those who like sports, we recently discovered the online Urban Sports Club... lots of cool offerings without the tedious & typical one year contracts. Everything from fitness studios to dancing lessons, to yoga etc there.
