Introduction round: Who are you and where are you from?
Hi, I’m Demiana (35), originally from the area around Frankfurt am Main
What made you come to Berlin?
I came to Berlin in 2013 for the first time and it was totally clear for me that I wanted to stay. The city’s spirit was overwhelming (although it was winter) but I was not sure about how to move over because I did not know anybody in Berlin yet. So I applied for a job and looked for a residential community and luckily I have found one in Neukölln. Immediately I had 8 flat mates who were really gentle and helped me get started. After a while I have found a flat and decided to get self-employed in 2016.
What exactly do you do? What's in the pipeline for the near future?
I’m offering Interim Management and Consulting Services for Finance and Controlling. Often people call me because they want to set up a new ERP System and they need someone to check the numbers and processes. Recently I have also founded an event agency, MICE Events UG (haftungsbeschränkt), which offers workshops (e.g. Excel Workshops, liquidity planning) and specialist presentations regarding different topics (not business administration only). Furthermore, I have a paperless bookkeeping service (Cash & Cow GmbH) which books your current business transactions and gives you evaluations on your numbers.
Since when do you cowork at Office Club Berlin Prenzlauer Berg?
I started in 2016 and also moved both of my other companies to Office Club Berlin Prenzlauer Berg.
What is the benefit of using a coworking space for you?
It’s fun meeting people who have completely different professions. It allows a view beyond the horizon. A coworker invited me to a Wordpress conference last year to which I would have never gone to by myself. It was really amazing. Furthermore, I like the Club events, for example the Christmas and summer parties.
Which questions / problems could you help your coworking neighbour with?
I could help you with financial planning, e.g. whether your hourly rate is appropriate in order to cover main risks and how long you can last until you need the next contract. I could ease your life by booking your current business transactions and give you the needed interfaces for your tax consultant.
Do you have favourite spots in Berlin? Something to recommend / consider especially for people coming here?
I loved to go to the Mauerpark on Sundays before it became a construction site. I can recommend the bars and restaurants around Boxhagener Platz (Friedrichshain).
