Meet Friederike - our member of the month in June!

Introduction round: Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Friederike and I have been moving every three years throughout my childhood. So I am from nowhere specifically but lived in Belgium (close to Mons), Braunschweig, Kassel, Bonn, Belgium again, Mönchengladbach and the Netherlands (close to Sittard) until I finished high school. I then moved to Hamburg, St.Gallen in Switzerland and Boston until I came to Berlin in 2002.

What made you come to Berlin?
Berlin in 2002 was the city in Germany where I knew the most people. As my employer gave me a choice of where to live and work I chose Berlin and have been living here since.

What exactly do you do? What's in the pipeline for the near future?
I am one of the founders of zero44, a young company (incorporation was in January this year) that provides digital tools for the maritime industry to reach carbon zero. We are currently working on our MVP that is planned to go live this summer. At the same time we are building the team, have just entered our pre-seed funding round and work on our go-to-market strategy. Since when do you cowork at Office Club Berlin Prenzlauer Berg?
We started coworking here on May 1 this year.

What is the benefit of using a coworking space for you?
The flexibility it gives a young start-up to be in a short-term lease contract, the ability to grow or shrink the number of desks we need, and having a friendly and lively atmosphere around us from day one.

Which questions / problems could you help your coworking neighbour with?
We are obviously interested in saving the planet and are becoming experts on sustainability matters in global supply chains. So if that is a topic of interest, just contact us.

Do you have favourite spots in Berlin? Something to recommend / consider especially for people coming here?
So many favourite spots! I would recommend to everyone new in the city to take walks through the “Bezirke”. Either in daylight discovering cafés and parks and sights and architecture. Or in the evening, going for dinner, drinks and dancing. Choose a random “Bezirk”, do some research and check it out. There’s treasure everywhere.
