Meet Marie - our member of the month in March!
Introduction round: Who are you and where are you from?
Hey! I am Marie - born, grown up and still living in Berlin. I work as freelance illustrator and comic artist. I try to keep the balance between commissioned work for different clients (primarily to bring home the bacon) and my own projects in which I put all my heart and passion. Drawing was always my hobby number one and it's just wonderful to be able to say that it is my job now at the same time.
What exactly do you do? What's in the pipeline for the near future?
For clients I do illustrations of all kinds, character designs, storyboards, informational graphics, etc. I did a big comic book project some years ago, I plan to do an erotic art-book project this year and I love to do funny doodles about my dog Leila and me and our daily life situations.
Since when do you cowork at Office Club?
I just started on February the 29th! I am sitting next to the backyard entrance - come by and drink a coffee with me if you feel like it. My dog will be happy to welcome you, too. ;)
What is the benefit of using a coworking space for you?
As much as I love my work - it's quite a solitary kind of work. So I love to have inspiring people around. The work atmosphere encourages me. Also I noticed: It's good to have a distance between your home and your workplace. I worked at home for some month and I got cabin fever by it!
Which questions / problems could you help your coworking neighbour with?
Everything with regard to drawing. :)
Also storytelling and maybe some tricks in using Photoshop.
Do you have favourite spots in Berlin? Something to recommend / consider especially for people coming here?
What I like to do in Berlin is to just to grab some friends, go out with them and see where it leads you. Berlin has so much to offer; especially in summer it's just great to get inspired by all the different kinds of events happening on the streets. Also I recommend: get yourself a bike! Especially at night it's just beautiful!
Also I am a big fan of burlesque, swing and parties in the style of the 20ies. On that point Berlin has a lot to offer, too. :)
