"What I particularly like about the Office Club is the 'all-round service'"

1. what were the most important cornerstones of your professional career and what is your current field of work?

I am a qualified healthcare and nursing professional. I worked in this role in the outpatient care sector until 2014. I then started as a care assessor at the Bavarian Medical Service. My job was to draw up expert reports on behalf of the statutory long-term care insurance companies to determine the need for long-term care for people who had applied for long-term care. In the course of this, I trained as a care expert.

I have been self-employed as a care consultant since April 2019 - my company is called Betreuung Rundum. As a care consultant, I support people in need of care and their family caregivers in applying for and obtaining a care degree. In an initial consultation, I first advise on the requirements for obtaining a care degree, calculate the amount of the care degree and determine the chances of success for enforceability. I then provide support in completing the application, prepare the person in need of care and their carers for the special situation of the assessment by the Medical Service and check the plausibility of the assessment at the end. My expertise can also be called upon in the event of an appeal in the event of a care degree being rejected or assigned too low.

In my role as an independent care expert, I also prepare expert reports on behalf of social courts in which I have to determine a person's need for care and calculate the level of a care degree. In addition, in accordance with § 37.3 SGB XI, I carry out counseling assignments, which must be regularly verified by those in need of care from care level 2 when receiving care allowance.

2. what might an exemplary daily routine look like for you?

Nothing works without having had two cups of coffee first. :) Then I get ready for my tour. I have about three to five home visits a day. In the afternoon, I do the follow-up work in the office and have more appointments or phone calls.

3. what was your most courageous career decision and did it pay off?

Without a doubt, the biggest and most important decision of my professional career was to give up my secure job in the public medical service and take the plunge into self-employment - without knowing whether I could be successful and secure my livelihood. But that's exactly what I did! It totally paid off, as I always had a mind of my own but wasn't able to implement my ideas the way I wanted to in a permanent position.

Today, I'm particularly pleased when people approach me because they need help applying for a care degree. It's even nicer when, at the end of my consultation, a care degree is actually awarded and the person in need of care gains access to care insurance benefits. Many of my clients experience a real "aha moment": they not only understand how to obtain a care degree, but also what benefits they are entitled to and how they can make the best use of them.

4. what made you decide to become a member of the Office Club?

It was the great location of the offices in the middle of Nuremberg! I drove past the FrankenCampus in my car in the summer of 2022 and thought to myself: you should be able to rent an office here. I had been actively looking for an office for some time before that. So I decided to walk across the site and saw "Business Center" above an entrance. I walked up to the reception and lo and behold, I was spot on. It was possible to rent a permanent office here and there was an empty one at the time.

What I particularly like about the location: Visitors can easily get there by subway, and there is a parking garage in the immediate vicinity for cars, where parking is even free for up to 30 minutes. The entrance to the office is also barrier-free, which is important as people with walking difficulties often come to my office.

5. which Office Club services do you use and how do you benefit from them?

I particularly like the "all-round service" at Office Club: the offices are cleaned regularly, there are drinks, snacks, a reception desk that is manned daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., which ensures that my letters and parcels always arrive and that my clients are greeted in a friendly manner at the entrance and shown the way to my office. I also really appreciate the postal service, which allows me to have my letters franked and posted, which saves me a lot of time as I would otherwise have to drive to a post office every day. I also use the drinks flat rate. I find it very practical not to have to do the shopping myself and to always be supplied with a wide variety of drinks. I also use the "Book seminar rooms" service: We hold team meetings with employees in the seminar rooms once a month. We particularly like to use the monitor here, which we can use to show presentations.

6. which encounter or "aha" moment has had the greatest impact on you in your career?

It was the encounter and confrontation with myself and the resulting confidence I needed to successfully become self-employed. Spirituality has helped me in this - the awareness that I am here in this world to gain experience, to develop myself further and to get to know and love myself.

7. how do you wind down after a long day at work?

I like to go for long walks with my dog Pacco, a 12-year-old mongrel. We prefer to be out in the forest. Fortunately, we live in an area that is perfect for hiking: the Schwarzachklamm gorge. Here we can walk extensively and on different paths every day. Walking gives me time for myself and is a good way to get away from the stress of everyday life. I also meditate regularly and do QiGong - that also helps me to get away from it all.

8. which of your qualities do you think are decisive for your professional success?

I think my professional success is primarily based on empathy, ambition, strong communication skills, assertiveness and willpower. In my consulting work, my clients particularly appreciate my calm, polite and emphatic demeanor as well as my professional expertise. Time and again, I receive feedback that they feel they are in good hands and understood by me. This appreciation and recommendations have contributed significantly to my success.
